From its spectacular perch on a hilltop between Todi and Orvieto this beautiful villa affords visitors privacy as well as beautiful views.

The house

La Mongolfiera is a traditional stone farmhouse that was completely renovated in the early 90's. It is exceptionally well-furnished with antiques, providing country casual decor that is comfortable yet elegant. One can find plenty of easy armchairs and sofas and a variety of places to gather for conversation or dining.

The garden is lovely with abundant flowers in season, has a beautiful pool (40 x 16 ft.) and plentiful lawn furniture as well as a pergola for outdoor dining.

On the villa's ground floor are a kitchen, a dining room, a library, and a living room with a fireplace. Guests have satellite TV, a DVD player, a stereo system, wifi connection and a study with fax and phone at their disposal. The favourite place to chill has to be the glazed veranda which boasts an unforgettable view of Todi and the rolling hills.

The modern kitchen has a marble counter, stove, oven, refrigerator with freezer, and a dishwasher, and is well-equipped for cooking. As well as this there is a utility room with washer and dryer for the use of the maid, and a powder room. There is a bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom with shower.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs and showers. One bedroom has a double bed, one has a king-sized bed and one has twin beds. All of them have window screens and hairdryers.

Outside the villa, down a few steps, is a charming guest cottage next to the pool, where there is a lovely bedroom with king-sized bed, living room (with sofa-bed for 1), and a bathroom with shower. A gazebo is just nearby in the garden.

To visit

todi & Orvieto

This magical region of Umbria between Orvieto and Todi is our favorite for sheer physical beauty, without sacrificing convenience of location. The vistas are grand, yet Todi is 15 minutes away and Orvieto about 30 minutes.

Todi's lively maze of streets is enclosed by the remains of the town's three encircling walls-one dating from the Etruscan age, one from the Roman age and a third of medieval origin.

Orvieto, located along the main rail line between Rome and Florence, is famous for its white wine and black and white striped cathedral, and is home to many delightful shops and restaurants..

 ASSISi, SPOLETO & Perugia

The well-known Umbrian hillside towns of Assisi, Spoleto, and Perugia are
also within an hour's drive and Rome is an hour and a half to the south.

Lago d'ALVIANO, lago di BOLSENA

Naturalists may wish to do some bird watching in the nearby wildlife reserve at Lago d'Alviano, while Italy's largest volcanic lake, the Lago di Bolsena, is great for water sports or excursions by boat to either of its two picturesque islands.
